Brooklyn is from Summerville, South Carolina, and has been playing piano since she was five years old. She was accepted into Rollins Middle School of the Arts for piano in the fifth grade, and that is where her passion for the piano began.
Brooklyn improved her piano skills during middle school by playing more classical pieces and working on her technique. After that, she was admitted into the Charleston County School of the Arts in North Charleston, where she discovered that the music was becoming more difficult. She knew she had to put in a lot of effort outside of school to keep her spot, so she studied a lot of theory and concentrated on her pieces.
Brooklyn performed at the Sonatina Festival in 10th grade and received positive feedback from the judges. In tenth through twelfth grades, she took part in Achievement Day, where she received an Outstanding Ribbon each of those years. For her senior year, she was required to do a Piano Senior Thesis where she performed and a presentation about her year of teaching three 7th graders. This experience inspired her to want to teach more in the future.
Brooklyn graduated from the School of the Arts and will be attending Charleston Southern University to major in early childhood education and minor in music.
