Below you will find Fancy Fingers Piano Studio's policy statement. This statement is a tool for you, the parent/student, and the instructors. It allows us to work together as a team in the learning process. Additionally, it allows the instructors to establish a standard of excellence that is essential for providing a quality music education. Please read the following carefully.
At the lesson:
It is the responsibility of the student to have all music organized and written work completed before the time of the lesson.
Students must follow instructions given and behave in a manner that enhances musical progress and learning.
During the lesson, I would prefer to have no outside disturbances or distractions. Please drop your child off at his/her lesson and return at the lesson’s end.
Fees:
Tuition is due on the FIRST lesson of each month. Payments are to be made in CASH.
Tuition is $120.00 per month ($25 registration fee due upon registration and every September).
Music books are an additional expense. I will be responsible for purchasing all materials for reimbursement.
Missed Lessons and Make-Ups:
Please be considerate in giving sufficient notice if you need to cancel a lesson.
Lessons missed for any reason including sickness, vacation, or any other occasional conflict DO NOT result in a make-up or credit. Please keep in mind you are still paying for missed lessons.
A full month’s notice is required to be given if you are planning to discontinue piano lessons. This enables me to budget accordingly and attempt to refill the space. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Any time there is a 5th week (lesson) in each month, which happens 5 times each year, it will be “banked.” Some of the extra lessons will be used for holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. The remainder will be used for whenever I am sick or on vacation. We will still meet for the extra lessons. I will let you know in advance when I will be using a sick/vacation day.
Please be aware that lessons are year round. There is not a summer break.
Practice:
In the beginning, students will normally require 15-20 minutes of practice time per day. As the student progresses into more difficult material, 30 minutes per day should be appropriate. Practice time is critical for musical success.
Parental/spousal/family support and dedication are very necessary to achieve musical success; get involved in what they are learning; show interest in their work; support and encourage their endeavor. You don’t have to be musically inclined to make a champion. (Many great Olympic champions have been coached by people that know how to motivate and challenge.) This will be very important as the student may feel like giving up from time to time. Remind your student that anything worth having is worth working for. Your part in this team effort is to be involved!
We will have a Spring Recital in May or June. We usually have a Christmas Recital/Party in December. Children are required to participate in these. Adult participation is optional, but strongly encouraged. There are no regular lessons during recital week.
It is my goal as an instructor to provide a well-rounded musical education for the student. With hard work, I am confident that this learning environment will not only encourage discipline, self-esteem, quality use of time, and goal setting, but also develop dynamic and rewarding skills in the field of music.
Thank you for taking the time to review this statement. I look forward to our work and accomplishments in the future. Please sign and return the attached form signifying your agreement to abide by the terms outlined in this statement.
