Selena Barfield, Founder, Piano and Voice Instructor

Selena began studying piano at the age of 5. By the age of 10, she was playing the piano for the children’s church at Dorchester Road Church of the Nazarene. She participated in Junior Talent Solo Competitions in the state of South Carolina in both voice and piano. By the age of 13, Selena was playing for regular church services and continues her work in music as Worship Leader of Cornerstone Community Church in St. George, SC.

As a singer and performer, Selena has been involved in the pageant circuit in which she has held several runner-up titles and the title of Ms. Charleston 1993. She has been involved in both solo and vocal ensembles. In theatrics, she has performed in the drama/musicals “The Wedding” and “The Trial”.

Her experience in music instruction began in 1990 with her position as Music Teacher at Life Christian Academy where she also began giving private piano lessons. Classroom education, combined with these instructional experiences bring to her teaching a wide range or musical and technical skills.

After growing a substantial private student base, she left the classroom to open Fancy Fingers Piano Studio in 1999 and has been teaching piano and voice exclusively since that time.
Selena is an enthusiastic and patient teacher whose professional and friendly style bring excellence to any piano teaching environment.

Selena attended the College of Charleston for a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in Music.
